Read 50 books. I read more than this in 2018, but I don't like to set my reading goal too high. I prefer to blow this goal out of the water each year, instead of just barely squeak it out. So while on paper my goal is to read 50, I really hope to read more than that.
Listen to 20 audiobooks. I recently started listening to audiobooks in the car on the way to work. I really enjoy "reading" books in this format. And I want to incorporate this more into my reading routines. Because I have books and audiobooks in my goals, my Goodreads goal for the year is set to 70 to account for both types, however, I will be keeping lists of both separated to keep accurate counts for this goal.
Read 10 books from my shelf. I own way too many books and many of them I have not yet read. This year, instead of always buying new books to read, I want to read what is already on my shelf.
Complete the Light & Avid levels of Challies' 2019 Christian Reading Challenge. Tim Challies is one of my favorite Christian bloggers and he has a reading challenge every year. I always have high hopes of completing top levels of this challenge, but it always falls flat. This year, I'm setting a more reachable goal for myself. I am going to try for the first two levels, which will be a total of 26 books that cover a variety of topics. You can read more about the 2019 Reading Challenge on his blog.
Read 1 Fantasy book. I tend to read within very few genres as I stick to what I know I like. However, I want to start branching out more and trying genres that I don't typically read. This year, I want to start that with Fantasy. I am setting a basic goal of reading 1 book in this genre. What is your favorite Fantasy book? I need some good suggestions!
Read and review 10 Netgalley books. Netgalley is a wonderful site that gives readers Advanced Readers Copies (ARCs) of books in exchange for reviews. I have been a member of this site for a while, and have not been very consistent. I want to read more books that I've been approved for and raise my feedback percentage this year.
Consistently blog all book reviews that I read this year. One of the main reasons for starting this blog is to have a place where I can hold myself accountable and keep track of all the books that I have read. I enjoy looking back through old reviews and seeing what I thought of different books, and I figured this was a great way to do so.
These are my 2019 goals. What goals have you set for yourself?
